AI is here to stay: how media and politics will change in the next few years

In her intro-keynote, Victorina Demirel, will set the stage with a practical and future-oriented perspective on how AI is transforming journalism, media, politics, and the way people consume information. Her keynote will be followed by a panel discussion.

The session will explore how AI is already being used in newsrooms today, what is real versus hype, and how citizens may soon consume news through AI assistants that summarize, personalize, explain, and enable conversation. Will people still read articles in ten years, or will journalism increasingly appear as audio, video, summaries, and “liquid content”?

The keynote and panel will also examine what remains valuable regardless of format: unique journalism, verification, editorial accountability, and trust. As synthetic content becomes easier to create, how can audiences know what to trust, and how can media organizations maintain credibility?

The discussion will also address AI’s impact on politics, campaigning, regulation, democracy, jobs, resilience against manipulation, environmental concerns, and who benefits from AI-driven change, and who risks being left behind.
